1.
Joan, what is your favourite Filipino Music?

One of the popular Filipino bands that I like is Parokya ni Edgar.  This band was formed in 1993 and is known for original rock novelty songs. One of their best songs that I like the most is Harana*.

*Harana in English means Serenade.

Here you can listen to the song:

2. Which Filipino book impressed you most?

I still remember that when I was in Secondary School I had a subject called History. We read 2 novels written by Doctor Jose P. Rizal, a Philippine National Hero. These books are entitled Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not) and its sequel El Filibusterismo (The Subversive).

The novel’s best lines are in my opinion:

In English: “He who doesn’t love his own language is worse than an animal and smelly fish.”
  2. “Nasa Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan.” In English: “Filipino youth is the hope of the country”

3. Is there any great Filipino movie?

For me, this movie is not sooo great but close to good movie 😀

That Thing Called Tadhana is a romantic comedy movie. It is a story of a broken hearted girl who met a boy in a not so normal way. Both in despair out of love, they form a charming friendship that will take them to Sagada (one of the famous tourist spots in the Northern Part of the Philippines) in their attempts to mend each other’s hearts.

*Tadhana in English: Fate

4. And what is your favourite Filipino dish?

I love cooking. My favourite Filipino dish is Sinigang na baboy.

5. Joan, please teach us a funny phrase with which we can surprise locals.

Bulaga! – In English that means Booo!

My boss always surprises me, and they were so happy and laughing out loud when they heard me scream!

6. Last but not least, please give us a reason why a young German traveler should visit your country!

Actually, anyone should visit Philippines. The Philippines offer so many beautiful places to visit, history and cultures to share, local food to taste, and indigenous people to meet.
